			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Have lots of back problems. I have 6 hernieted discs(that I know, we have never done an MRI of the thoracic spine). I had a fusion in my neck and I also have a hemangioma on one of my vertebrae that is causing pain. The back pain causes arm and leg pain, my right leg goes numb all the time and then my left leg picks up the slack, making my knee hurt. I am 28 and have been dealing with the worst of this for 3 years. I know this will be a life long battle. All of those that have had chronic pain for many more years then me, what have you done and what are you with pain control efforts? What kind of road am I heading down I guess is what I want to know?<br />
Just so everyone knows, I do work 12 hour shifts 3 days a week at a hospital, so I am pretty much on the run during those times. I have 3 children. The 2 oldest are in school and walk them to the bus stop. I clean my house, do yard work, walk the dogs, Everything that everyone else does. I am not just sitting on a couch crying all day. I have been working on losing my many extra pounds and have lost about 30 pounds and instead of the pain getting better with less weight, it is getting worse.  So, basically, I just want to know where everyone has been in a journey like mine.</p>

This video is Part 2 of the series on back massage, it focuses on the back, shoulders, traps, and arms. Poor posture and a slouched, slumped back can contribute to a wealth of physical dysfunction and pain in the back, hips, butt, thighs, legs, arms, shoulders, neck, hands, and well&#8230; you get the idea. In this video, Christie Powell, head of physical therapy at Catz Austin, explains how poor posture can cause low back pain and other issues like carpal tunnel and sciatica. This video and the rest of the series will give you easy tips and exercises to alleviate pain and discomfort. Often when we are sitting at the computer, watching TV or movies, playing video games, and driving, we slump into poor posture and a curved spine. This exerts pressure throughout the entire body and over time will severely weaken the shoulders and back so that sitting correctly becomes uncomfortable. The only way to improve posture is to begin changing your habits and to try and get in the habit of reminding yourself to sit up straight. This stretch can work out the kinks—just don&#8217;t hold back. To complete this How-To you will need: Comfortable clothes A large towel 2 large rubber bands A floor A 3- to 5-inch-diameter foam roller Step 1: Roll towel Fold the large towel in half lengthwise and roll it very tightly, creating a cylinder that&#8217;s 3-5 inches in diameter. Tip: Replace the rolled towel with a foam roller, a common and inexpensive physical therapy tool. Step 2: Place rubber band Place one rubber band around the rolled towel near each end to keep it tightly rolled. Step 3: Place on floor Place the rolled towel on the floor where you will lie so that it will be perpendicular to your body. Step 4: Lie on floor Lie on your back on the floor so the rolled towel is at the base of your shoulder blades. Your knees should be bent and your feet flat on the floor. Step 5: Cradle head Cradle your head by cupping the upper part of the back of your head in your interlaced fingers. Case Study 2 &#8211; Our second case study&#8217;s severe back pain started in 1981 when he fell out of a tree! Case Study 4 &#8211; The fourth treatment covered in the programme is the Alexander Technique in water. Case Study 3 &#8211; Our third case study is a woman who at the age of 17 was knocked down by a fire engine, resulting in an artificial leg being fitted.<br />
