My lower back has been hurting for about a week now. How do I get rid of the pain without having to go to the chiropractor? I’ve been taking OTC back pain relievers, and they seem to help a little bit. Do you have any alternatives. I’d appreciate it. Thanks.
Actually pain relievers will only give you temporary relief at most. If you have had pain for a week, the ice/heat will seldom work as it is more effective in those first 48 hours.
What you need to do is stretch a few muscles as they are the likely source of most of your pain, and also get your joints moving.
You need to be able to work out what is wrong though or you may target the wrong areas. If you wish click the link below my name for a free diagnostic tool you can use o work out where your back pain comes from.
But then you need to stretch as this should help. even once the pain has eased, you still need to work on your back to make sure the pain doesn’t come back.
Take care

Try heat, heating pad or hot water bottle. Also swimming might help especially in warm water to help relax the muscles.

First, see your health care provider as soon as possible. Warmth may be of benefit in relieving spasms and back pain. Heat may be applied with hot showers, hot compresses, or heating pad. Heat may be used as often as practical, but don’t burn the skin. Aspirin, ibuprofen, or naproxen will help relieve pain and inflammation.
Back pain, is slow to improve and may take several weeks to completely resolve. If pain doesn’t lessen in a week, call the doctor. And good luck.

I know that muscle building is a back pain solution.
