Whenever I play hockey I get severe lower back pain. I try to stretch out as much a possible, however it get to the point where I can no longer skate. I’m wondering if this is because I haven’t played roller hockey in 5 years.
Perhaps my muscles are adjusting and/or strengthening or perhaps my posture is bad when skating. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Sounds like you just low strength in your lower back muscles. Do squats and leg presses in the gym. Core workouts will definitely help too.

Totally has happened to me when I have not skated in awhile. I think it goes away after your muscles build up.

wear a support belt. You know, the one you wear under your close when carrying heavy things to prevent your back from hurting.

Yes it is because you have not played in a while. When I was forced to sit out a few months I had the same issues when restarting ice. It was really bad on the face offs. But it does go away. It just takes time . Stretching does help , But it is a matter of your muscles getting used to skating and game style again . Some core exercises can help. But it will go away as soon as your body gets used to playing again .
