What can you tell me about herniated disc surgery?

Elderly man has been diagnosed with at least 2 herniated discs, he is being sent to see a orthopedic surgeon, what does surgery and normal recovery include? We have been told probably not a candidate for the less invasive newer surgical method. (On top of this he has CHF and is on blood thinner because had clots in lungs).

How do you tell the difference between the symptoms of a pinched nerve and a concussion?

I’m trying to figure out if what I have is a pinched nerve or a minor concussion. The symptoms are similar though, so how can I tell which one I most likely have?

muscle relaxers for a herniated disc in the upper neck, can you tell me about them ?

My son in law is only 31 and has a herniated disc in his upper neck and he is in great pain. He has been told he can use muscle relaxants, are they are by prescription or are there any over the counter meds he can get ? He is seeing a chiropractor who said he could take them, but my son in law isn’t big into taking meds, but I thought if he took them, it might relax his neck and help him recover ? I’ve never had these issues ?

Is it joint pain or muscle pain that stops almost immediately when you quit moving or change positions to rest or get relief for the suddenly very sore area?

How to tell the difference between joint pain in knees and muscle pain?

I do heavy squats about 3 days a week and sometimes I can’t tell if the joint is in pain or the muscles surrounding them are. Does anyone know anything I can do to help me figure it out?
